Frequently Asked Questions

Before the session

What if I don’t think I can be hypnotised – or I find it difficult to relax?

You do not need a particular talent for hypnosis or to reach a specific “depth”. People experience it differently – some feel deeply relaxed, while others remain very aware of their thoughts and surroundings. What matters is being willing to focus inward and engage with the process.

Do I need to know where my issue comes from?

No. You do not need to know why a pattern began or identify a particular experience before we start.

During the session, we explore what arises naturally – this may include experiences, emotions, thoughts, images or associations – and look at the beliefs or meanings connected with them. If memories arise, they are explored for their relevance to your experience today rather than treated as an exact historical record.

How should I prepare for my RTT session?

Very little preparation is needed. Allow yourself enough time before and after the session so that you do not feel rushed.

It is enough to have a clear sense of what you would like us to work on and to be open to the process.

Is RTT safe, and is it suitable if I am currently receiving medical treatment or working with a psychologist or psychotherapist?

During RTT and hypnotherapy, you remain aware and actively involved in the process. They do not replace necessary medical, psychiatric or psychological care.

If you are currently under medical supervision, receiving treatment, receiving support for your mental health, or are unsure whether hypnotherapy is appropriate for you, please let me know during our initial consultation. Where appropriate, RTT can be used alongside your current treatment or support.

During the session

Will I lose control or say something I don’t want to say?

No. You remain aware and able to make choices throughout the session. You can speak, pause or stop at any point, and you will not be compelled to reveal anything you do not want to share. RTT is a collaborative process – you remain actively involved throughout.

What happens if difficult or strong emotions arise during the session?

Strong emotions can sometimes arise when we work with experiences that matter to us. This is a natural part of the process, and it is completely okay for those emotions to be expressed. If an emotion becomes too intense, there are techniques we can use to reduce its intensity and help you reconnect more clearly with the present moment. You remain actively involved throughout and can speak, ask for a pause or stop at any point.

The aim is not simply to return to a difficult experience, but to understand the feelings, beliefs or meanings that became connected with it and work with them from your present perspective.

Can we work on several different issues or goals at the same time?

That is very common, but RTT is a focused approach and we usually work with one clear issue or goal at a time.

Sometimes different issues can share a common underlying pattern – for example, perfectionism, fear of failure and low confidence may be connected with the same pattern. Other issues may not be directly related and are better explored separately. During the initial consultation, we decide what would be most useful to focus on first.

Practical details

Can RTT sessions be done online?

Yes. I work online, and hypnotherapy can be delivered effectively by video. You can take part from your own home or another private place where you feel comfortable and will not be interrupted. You will need a reliable internet connection and a device with camera and audio.

What happens after the initial consultation?

If we both feel that working together is the right next step, I will send you the relevant documents to review and sign, together with the agreed fee and payment details.

Payment is made in advance. Once the documents and payment are complete, we arrange your RTT session and you receive your online meeting link and practical information beforehand.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. What you share during our work is treated confidentially, subject to the limits of confidentiality explained in our working agreement and applicable legal requirements.

Your personal data is handled in accordance with the relevant data-protection requirements, with further details available in the Privacy Policy.
